The Museum of Fine Arts, Houston

The Museum of Fine Arts, Houston (MFAH) is the largest art museum in Texas and one of the top 10 museums in the United States. The MFAH houses a world-class collection of more than 145,000 works of art that includes masterpieces by Rembrandt.

The MFAH has been designated as an official state cultural institution and is supported through the generosity of individuals, corporations, foundations, and government agencies. In addition to its permanent collections, the MFAH presents approximately 100 exhibitions annually.

Houston Zoo

Space Center Houston

It’s one of the largest science centers in the world, with more than 100 hands-on exhibits and activities for kids and adults alike. There are also many educational programs available, including planetarium shows, live animal demonstrations, and even a space shuttle simulator. It was founded by NASA in 1962 and has been offering tours since then. Visitors can see the space shuttle Discovery, Apollo 11 command module, Mercury capsule, Gemini capsule, and many other artifacts.

Houston Museum of Natural Science

The museum was founded by George Hermann O’Shaughnessy in 1874 as the first natural history museum in Texas. It has grown to become one of the largest museums in North America with more than 1 million visitors annually.

The Menil Collection

The Menil Collection was founded by John F. and Dominique de Menil in Houston in 1976. It is one of the largest private art collections in the world. The collection includes more than 2,000 works of modern and contemporary art, including paintings, sculptures, photographs, drawings, prints, and installations. The collection includes works by Picasso, Matisse, Warhol, Lichtenstein, and many others.

Children’s Museum Houston

The museum has three floors with interactive exhibits for children ages 3-12. There are also special events throughout the year like Halloween parties, Easter egg hunts, and birthday parties. It is located at 713 Walker St., Houston TX 77002. It was founded by the late philanthropist and entrepreneur Kemmons Wilson in 1976. He wanted to provide children with a place where they could explore their interests through hands-on activities. Today, the museum has more than 100 exhibits and programs for kids ages birth to 12 years old.

Downtown Aquarium

The Houston Texas Aquarium is one of the largest aquariums in the world. It has more than 6 million gallons of water and houses thousands of animals including sharks, stingrays, penguins, otters, sea turtles, jellyfish, eels, and many other species. It was founded by John G. Mecom Jr., who also owns the Dallas Cowboys football team. The aquarium has been featured in several movies including “The Day After Tomorrow” and “Deep Blue Sea”.

Discovery Green

Discovery Green is a park located at 900 Bagby Street in Houston, Texas. It was designed by landscape architect Robert Venturi and completed in 1987. The park covers and features a series of waterfalls, fountains, and sculptures. It is one of the largest green spaces in Houston, with more than 1 million square feet of space. It has been named one of the best places to relax in America by USA Today.

The Galleria

The Galleria is a shopping mall located at the corner of Westheimer Road and Post Oak Boulevard in Houston, Texas. It was opened in 1972 by developer John F. Staubach Jr., who also developed the nearby River Oaks Shopping Center. The Galleria has been expanded several times since then, with the latest expansion completed in 2005.

Kemah Boardwalk

Kemah Boardwalk is a beachfront boardwalk located at Kemah, Texas. It was built in the 1920s by the Kemah Development Company. The company also constructed the nearby Kemah State Park. Owned by Landry’s Inc, whom acquired it in 1997, it includes the Boardwalk Bullet, a ultra compact roller coaster.

Hermann Park

It was built in 1894 by the German immigrant community who settled here after the Civil War. It has been designated a National Historic Landmark.It was named after German-born botanist Carl Ludwig Willdenow who first described the park in 1847. He was also responsible for naming the city’s famous zoo, the Houston Zoo.

Houston Arboretum & Nature Center

This park has a variety of trails for hiking, biking, jogging, and walking. It also offers a nature center with exhibits about local flora and fauna.

Buffalo Bayou Park

It’s one of Houston’s oldest parks, dating back to 1876. Today, it’s home to the city’s largest urban park system, with more than 1,000 acres of green space. There are also several museums, including the Museum of Fine Arts, the Menil Collection, and the Contemporary Art Museum Houston.It’s one of Houston’s best-kept secrets. This park is located right next to the University of Houston campus and has been around since the early 1900s. It was originally named after the bayous that run through the city but was later renamed after the buffalo bays that once roamed the area. Today, this park offers plenty of activities for all ages including a playground, basketball courts, tennis courts, volleyball courts, baseball fields, soccer fields, a dog park, a skateboard park, and even a BMX track!

NASA Johnson Space Center

The Johnson Space Center is one of the largest research centers in the world. It was founded in 1958 by President Dwight D. Eisenhower and has been responsible for many major space achievements including the Apollo program, the first moon landing, and the International Space Station. It has been responsible for many space missions, including Apollo 11, the first manned mission to land on the moon; Skylab, the first U.S. space station; and the Hubble Space Telescope.

Contemporary Arts Museum Houston

The Contemporary Arts Museum Houston is located at 2223 Elgin Street, Houston, Texas 77006-3188. It was founded by Dr. George R. Brown in 1980. This museum has been designed to provide a platform for artists to exhibit their work and also to promote art education.

Minute Maid Park

It was built in 2000 and has been home to the Astros since 2005. It’s located at 1201 Walker Street in downtown Houston. The stadium holds 41,000 people and is named after the company that owns the team. It also hosted the 2017 World Series between the Chicago Cubs and the Los Angeles Dodgers.
